YIP village is a 'Marhwar' Hindu community indigenous to Sindh. This community is extremely marginalised due to their isolation both from being a Hindu low caste and a religious minority in muslim Pakistan. The work is a great ambassador that speaks for itself for the community. Their hand crochet is so incredibly precise and beautiful, it is often mistaken for machine made crochet! The women are mostly illiterate but with a vivid imagination and sense of creativity. This community makes our crochet necklaces and crochet edged triangle scarves.
